California-based At Home Sleep Apnea Testing has expanded its WatchPAT One testing service to residents throughout the Central Coast region, including areas between Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz, as well as between Bakersfield and Modesto. The expansion is designed to provide a more accessible testing option for individuals experiencing symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea.

The WatchPAT One device features a streamlined design with minimal components, including a wrist-worn unit, finger probe, and chest sensor. This simplified setup is intended to reduce the physical discomfort often associated with traditional sleep studies while maintaining comprehensive data collection capabilities. The device measures peripheral arterial tone, heart rate, and oxygen saturation throughout the night.
According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, approximately 30 million Americans have obstructive sleep apnea, with an estimated 80 percent of cases remaining undiagnosed. Meanwhile, traditional sleep laboratories often have wait times of four to six weeks, which can delay diagnosis and treatment for many individuals.
At Home Sleep Apnea Testing aims to address these barriers by offering rapid access to diagnostic testing. The process involves completing a sleep screening form and downloading a companion app, after which individuals can conduct the test in their own homes and receive results within 48 hours.
“The goal is to make sleep apnea testing more accessible and less intimidating for people who might otherwise delay getting help,” a company spokesperson explains. “Traditional sleep labs serve an important purpose, but not everyone needs that level of testing, and the wait times can be a real barrier.”
At Home Sleep Apnea Testing is led by Medical Director Ronald A. Popper, MD, who has been practicing sleep medicine since 1984. Dr. Popper also founded the Southern California Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, which has been accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine since 1985. “I appreciated being able to test at home instead of spending a night at an unfamiliar facility,” one recent client stated. “The whole process was straightforward from ordering the kit to receiving my diagnosis. Within a week, I had answers and could start addressing my sleep issues.”
