WHEN IT COMES TO PRESERVING AND PROTECTING NATURE, WORLD WILDLIFE FUND SURVEY FINDS THAT AMERICANS ARE UNITED

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- When you hear the word "nature," what comes to mind? Far away landscapes, wild animals, or your local park – these are all true – but nature encompasses so much more in ways that we don't even realize. From the materials used to build our homes, and sustain our food and water systems, the medicines we take, and the health of our families and communities, nature is a key factor in every aspect of everyday life.

To examine America's connection with and understanding of nature, GlobeScan, an independent research consultancy, recently conducted a national study to learn how people feel and think about nature. Key findings of this study include:

  • Nature is an essential part of America's cultural identity
  • A majority of Americans agree that addressing threats to nature is just as important as addressing economic issues
  • Americans recognize that protecting nature if critical for their overall wellbeing-from ensuring steady food and water supplies to supporting mental health.

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, is launching a new campaign about how nature sustains every aspect of our lives, often in unexpected ways. Threats like the loss of rainforests or diminishing access to fresh water are not just "nature" problems – they affect all of us – from our daily cup of coffee to the lumber used to build houses.

Loren Mayor of WWF shares results from the new GlobeScan survey and explains why protecting nature isn't just the right thing to do–it's essential for protecting our families, sustaining our businesses, and preserving the American way of life.
