EVANSTON, Ill., July 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Cyclopure is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) to provide PFAS water testing services for private well users in residential homes located in Colorado.
Private wells are not protected under the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). It is the responsibility of the well user to test their drinking water for contaminants. In 2024, CDPHE launched the PFAS Testing and Assistance Program (TAP) pilot project to provide testing resources for private well users in Bailey, CO. Cyclopure provided testing services for the 2024 pilot, analyzing over 660 water samples for Bailey residents using the company's Water Test Kit Pro for PFAS.
Following the success of the pilot effort, CDPHE has expanded the PFAS TAP program statewide, offer ing Coloradans with a private well free water testing for PFAS with Cyclopure's Water Test Kits . The program helps CDPHE identify and minimize resident exposure to PFAS. With the collected data, CDPHE will develop recommendations on reducing exposure to PFAS. During 2025, CDPHE is conducting focused outreach efforts in Gilpin, Grand, and Pueblo counties to test their well water for PFAS.
"The PFAS TAP Program is a first-of-kind offering," stated Frank Cassou, CEO at Cyclopure. "PFAS awareness is the first step to protecting families from the harmful effects of these chemicals in drinking water. We are pleased to be working with CDPHE to offer testing to private well users."
The Cyclopure Water Test Kit Pro is a convenient and affordable testing method for PFAS, developed with funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Sample collection is performed by passing 250 mL of water through a cup containing a DEXSORB-loaded extraction disc. Real-time PFAS capture secures contaminant concentrations in actual conditions before analysis. Shipping of water is not required. Collection cups are returned to the company's Evanston lab where extraction discs are eluted, and sample analysis is performed on LC-MS/MS with isotope dilution. Participants receive detailed reports of detected concentrations for 55 PFAS compounds.
Since its launch in 2020, Cyclopure has tested over 25,000 water samples for PFAS using the Water Test Kit Pro. Water Test Kit Pro accuracy has been confirmed in independent side-by-side studies.
